What Miyabi TOKYO values most is respecting the fundamentals of wearing kimono correctly.

Kimono is a garment with an already completed form.

Even with the same kimono, the impression can be so different by how to wear it.

This is what makes kimono fundamentally different from Western clothing — and what makes it so fascinating.

That is why Miyabi TOKYO places great importance on kata (form).

Kata is not meant to restrict you.

It is wisdom, refined over generations, the most efficient way to achieve balance and beauty.

At the same time, we don’t believe in memorization alone.

Kimono is more than clothing.
It is a quiet expression of Japanese culture, history, and beauty.

I created Miyabi TOKYO, Kimono dressing private lesson studio, to share kimono in a way that feels approachable, personal, and pressure-free.

Growing up in Japan, I loved watching my mother wear kimono for special occasions.

Later, while studying in the U.S., I realized something important: From outside Japan, I could finally see how precious and admirable our traditional culture truly is.

After returning to Japan, I began studying kimono dressing seriously.

Through kimono, I found calm, confidence, and a deeper connection to Japanese culture.
Many international guests tell me:
• “I want to learn properly, not just rent a kimono for photos.”
• “I don’t speak Japanese well.”
• “I couldn’t find a place that welcomes beginners.”

アメリカ留学を通して、外から日本を見たときに気づいたことがあります。

帰国後、本格的に着付けを学び、着物は「技術」だけでなく、心を整え、人生を豊かにしてくれる時間だと実感しました。
